Empowering Young Leaders to Address Global Challenges
The Youth Assembly is an action driven platform for any young person to lead sustainable development in their communities. Through discussions, skill-building workshops, networking, and ideation challenges, and with the support of experts and practitioners in the field, attendees will gain the resources they need to reshape the world. The program will focus on urgent challenges and exciting potential for young people to take action, aligning with the United Nations Secretary General’s Report on Our Common Agenda:
- Youth: peace and politics, education and climate action
- Global Health: mental health and Covid-19, effects on marginalized populations
- Global Citizenship: leadership and resilience in today’s world
- Digital Cooperation and Inclusion: technology and artificial intelligence
The Youth Assembly Delegates, aged 18 to 32, possess strong leadership potential and keen interest in global issues. They will have opportunities to showcase their work and generate impact including through the AFS Award for Young Global Citizens (first place award $10,000 and two runners up $2,500); Outstanding Youth Delegate Award; an Action & Impact Hub, Opportunities Exhibit and upon completion of the event will join our global network of alumni focused on action and impact.
To further enrich the Youth Assembly experience, immersive thematic packages will be offered to Delegates to delve into the topics of International Affairs for participants interested in the work of international organizations and the United Nations, Changemaking with a certificate from the University of Pennsylvania, and Global Citizenship Education for young teachers globally.
Placing Young People at the Center of Social Change
