Joyceline

Joyceline Amanimaa Kwarko

  • REGION: AFRICA (Ghana)
  • SDG 13: Climate Action

Joyceline is passionate about creating change in climate action, from participating in beach cleanups to turning leftover fabric into sustainable art projects. Her work in digital marketing lets her amplify these efforts, helping spread awareness and build community around sustainability. Her journey with the AFS Youth Assembly began as a volunteer, then she returned as a delegate in the Climate Entrepreneurship Academy, where she deepened her commitment to sustainable development. Beyond climate action, Joyceline volunteers for various SDG projects, like Zero Hunger by supporting and feeding the homeless and mentally challenged. She also advocates for gender equality, particularly women’s right to STEM education, and works toward quality education by researching opportunities to help women grow their STEM careers.

Anita

Anita Nhyira Bondzie

  • REGION: AFRICA (Ghana)

Anita Nhyira Bondzie is a multifaceted individual excelling as a Youth and Women in Leadership Advocate, a Founder, a Supply Chain Analyst, and a Startup Strategist. She holds a Bachelor of Technology in Supply Chain Management and a Higher National Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from Accra Technical University. Anita is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Anita is the Founder and President of SHE DARES 2 LEAD LBG. A non-profit organization that envisions a future where young women are well-represented and influential in leadership positions within universities, communities, and countries, driving positive change, and shaping the world around them. SD2L strives to create a society that values gender equality, empowers female voices, and recognizes the immense potential of young women as catalysts for progress and innovation while promoting SDGs 5, 10, 16, and 17 by 2030.

Kizhe Jabar Qadir

Kizhe is an educator committed to youth empowerment and advancing quality education. She currently teaches full-time at an international school, where she also volunteers with UN Global Schools to promote the SDGs, inspiring students to engage with global challenges through learning. She has participated in many programs and conferences like The AFS Youth Assembly, which strengthened her dedication to community-driven change. With experience as an academic coordinator, she has led STEM and leadership initiatives and organized workshops on university admissions and career readiness, focusing on delivering quality education. Her experiences in teaching, academic coordination, and small business ownership drive her mission to empower young leaders to make a meaningful difference.

Mohammad

Mohammad Shadab

  • REGION: ASIA & OCEANIA (India)

Mohammad Shadab embarked on a transformative journey within the AFS community that profoundly impacted both his personal growth and his community. He studies abroad with AFS in the USA, challenging his comfort zone and nurturing adaptability. Upon returning to India, he became actively involved in promoting cultural exchange and understanding at both local and national levels. Mohammad’s commitment extended beyond AFS, where he initiated the non-profit project “Girls, Say YES,” supporting women’s empowerment and girls’ education. He organized cultural events and workshops, spreading intercultural awareness, and encouraged volunteerism. Mohammad’s contributions in areas like environmental protection, climate action, and education have earned him recognition and accolades, including serving “Maximum hours of volunteer community service” according to Asia & India Books of Records. Mohammad promoted global competence through cross-cultural events and language learning, actively advocated for inclusion and equity through his “Girls, Say YES” project, and embodied active global citizenship through climate action and environmental initiatives.

Viashnavi

Vaishnavi Dubey

Vaishnavi is an undergraduate student at the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Japan majoring in International Management. She participated in the AFS Asia Kakehashi study abroad program. She is an active AFS volunteer and has initiated the ‘RED DRIVE’ which focuses on eradicating period poverty and making sanitary products available to the people for whom it is still a luxury. Having regularly carried it out in India, now she is in the process of carrying it out in Japan. She has also previously served as the Impact Coordinator for the Asia Kakehashi alumni. Vaishnavi has served as a youth ambassador, head of the student council, Indian delegate to Hack the Innovative Future by the Japan Embassy. Over the years she has been in leadership positions which gave her the power to initiate movements of change.

Anila Noushin Mahita

Anila is a Biomedicine (Bioengineering) graduate from the University of Melbourne, with experience as a researcher at Reach Alliance and as a Member of its Alumni Council. Currently serving as an Academic Programs Officer at the University of Melbourne, she is passionate about leveraging engineering principles to enhance healthcare quality and sustainability.

Ayomide

Ayomide Ajagbe

  • REGION: EUROPE (Germany)

Ayomide Ajagbe is a dynamic young leader passionate about media and communications and youth engagement for sustainable development. She is a Communications Specialist at the Africa Policy Research Institute (APRI) and Communications Director at the Center for Community Impact and Sustainability (CCIS). Through these roles and partnerships with high-level personnel, institutional stakeholders, and governments, Ayomide is able to advance communications that drive sustainable development. Ayomide has worked with numerous global youth organizations like AIESEC to empower youths and, she was awarded by the DAAD and the International Office of the University of Bremen (Kompass International) for outstanding youth leadership and community impact. She has served as a youth delegate at various international forums and summits such as the World Bank Youth Summit 2024 and AFS Youth Assembly 2023. Ayomide has a Master’s degree in English-Speaking Cultures: Language, Text and Media from the University of Bremen, Germany.

Larissa

Larissa del Pilar Cevallos Pérez

Larissa Cevallos is the Founder and President of United Peruvian Youth, a Peruvian NGO dedicated to fostering youth contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a strong focus on SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). In 2020, she launched “Project HUB UPY,” a platform that equips young people with the tools to design and implement educational projects within their communities. This initiative led United Peruvian Youth to win second place in the AFS Award for Young Global Citizens in 2022 during the 27th Youth Assembly. She serves as Grants Manager for the International Rescue Committee for Peru and Ecuador. Additionally, she has been appointed Impact Coordinator for the Youth Assembly organized by AFS, where she has been a dedicated delegate, ambassador, speaker, and Advisory Council member for over four years. Her professional interests include migration, peacemaking, and human security. Larissa is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Security at the University of Trento and the Scuola Superiore di Sant’Anna di Pisa. She holds a degree in International Relations from Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, with specializations in International Cooperation for Development (Fundación de Diplomáticos del Perú), International Security (University of Chile), and Fundraising (Tecnológico de Monterrey). As an experienced speaker on topics such as Education, Leadership, Project Management, and Grants, Larissa has ten years of experience in grants management and project management.

Hugo Enrique Osorio

Hugo Enrique Osorio holds a BA with honors degree in Politics & International Relations and a Masters degree in International Law from the UK. He has recently been named and awarded by the Congress of the Republic of Colombia with the medal; Ambassador for Colombians abroad. He began his work as a teenager working from London representing the different needs of the Latin American migrant population in different political and social platforms. He had the opportunity of intervening in different forums within The London Assembly, The House of Commons and then later on represented Colombia in the prestigious Global Forum for Young Diplomats in London (2019). He was also chosen as delegate in The UN Youth Plenary and ECOSCOC Young Leaders forum (2020). He has also worked as an advisor for the Presidency of the Republic of Colombia where he focused on creating social programs that could create education and employment opportunities around the country.

Hugo leads a project named ‘Sueña e Impacta’ (Dream & Impact) focused on SDG 17 he has visited over 25 cities in Colombia offering over 350 workshops, seminars and conferences based on social entrepreneurship and youth leadership. He uses his own example of his life in the UK as an immigrant to motivate young people to become powerful leaders that support their communities. He has focused on mentoring leaders and social activists by helping them strengthen their own charity organizations and social enterprises. In 2021 Hugo won a scholarship aimed at the 30 top Young people in Colombia changing politics.

Nada

Nada Al Baradan

  • REGION: NORTH AMERICA (Canada)

Nada Al Baradan, having overcome the challenges of war, has dedicated herself to fostering inclusive communities and empowering youth. With over 2,500 volunteer hours, she has developed strong leadership, advocacy, and impact skills. She is based in Canada. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto, she balances her academic pursuits with initiatives addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as quality education, gender equality, and reduced inequalities.

She has contributed to impactful programs, including co-designing initiatives at WES to bridge social capital gaps for refugee youth entering the workforce. At the YMCA, she developed and led the Newcomer Youth Leadership Development Program, empowering immigrant and refugee youth through leadership and community engagement skills. She has been active in advocacy, serving as a Leading Refugee Delegate at the Global Youth Assembly and speaking at OCASI’s Youth Active Citizenship Roundtable, where she shared strategies for engaging youth through creative approaches like art and workshops.

She volunteers at Sunnybrook Hospital and Pharmasave, contributing to community health. Additionally, she uses art-based initiatives to spark dialogue on social issues with the Arab Community Centre of Toronto. She received the Ted Rogers Scholarship and Women of Inspiration Award, which recognizes her commitment to creating meaningful change.

How does it work?

AFS appoints local Impact Coordinators in every region who will connect with alumni in their respective region to facilitate action-oriented activities and drive impact. Coordinators  will:

  • Lead action and impact initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and support
  • Connect you to essential resources and seed funding
  • Foster alumni collaboration
  • Promote your work on the global stage
