Meet Ambassadors for the 2026 AFS Youth Assembly

AFS Youth Assembly Ambassadors are students and young professionals from around the world who are looking to become pioneers in their community, help youth have a voice at the global stage and represent the mission of the AFS Youth Assembly.

Alumni of the AFS Youth Assembly will be invited to apply to the Ambassador Program after the conference in August.

AFS Award for Young Global Citizens

The AFS Award for Young Global Citizens recognizes young people for their commitment to improving the global community and whose actions contribute to a more just, peaceful, and tolerant world.

The winner will receive a $10,000 prize.

Delegates of the AFS Youth Assembly are invited to apply to the AFS Award for Young Global Citizens. Once you are accepted as a Delegate you will be sent information via email about applying to the awards.

Applications close on July 2, 2026.

The Award will be awarded to a Youth Assembly delegate who:

  • Demonstrates how their project is successfully addressing a pressing global issue, tackling one or more of the challenges outlined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and what this translates into in real-life impacts.
  • Shows how their project successfully engages others outside their own community/culture and how this aspect is crucial to advancing their work. Projects must rely on intercultural understanding and global competence.
  • Articulates how their initiative has significant potential to be scaled up and extended.

Outstanding Youth Delegate Award

After a rigorous selection process, one Outstanding Youth Delegate will be identified out of over 700 youth from 100 countries and will be awarded at the Closing session.

The application questionnaire Delegates complete at the time of applying will be used to assess their candidacy for the Outstanding Youth Delegate Award. No additional applications need to be submitted. 

IMPORTANTAccepted delegates will be emailed an application to apply for this award.

Applications close on July 2, 2026.

Shortlisted candidates will be selected from the accepted Delegates of the AFS Youth Assembly.

a unique opportunity for delegates to showcase their social impact projects

Action and Impact Hub at the Youth Assembly

In this exhibit style event, selected AFS Youth Assembly Delegates will present their work to fellow Delegates, network and find meaningful ways to collaborate on projects around the world. Delegates presenting at the event will be featured and be able to show off impact created locally and globally.

Delegates attending the event will:

  • Learn from showcased projects and how to create impact in their own communities
  • Grow their network with youth around the world
  • Volunteer or collaborate with ongoing projects

Once you are accepted as a Delegate you will be sent information via email about applying to the Action & Impact Hub.

The Opportunities Fair

The Opportunities Fair is an exclusive event for the AFS Youth Assembly Delegates to navigate global opportunities and build connections that matter. The exhibit style event will showcase universities, international non-profits, United Nations programs and agencies, corporations and ways to get involved in your own country and globally. Delegates will learn about exciting campaigns and initiatives and exchange ideas with well known organizations staff at the event.

The Opportunities Fair will take place on August 13, 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The deadline to apply for it is July 15, 2026.
