Mashkur Isa is a doctor with a passion for global health and youth leadership. He is an Erasmus Mundus scholar currently undergoing a Master’s degree in Public Health. He serves as a Youth Ambassador for the European Cancer Leagues (ECL) where he advocates for cancer prevention in line with the European Code Against Cancer. Additionally, in the capacity of Vice President of External Affairs at the International Student Surgical Network – InciSioN, he advocates for access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical healthcare for all, contributing to his passion for Universal Health Coverage.
He is an avid volunteer and has served as a Global Schools Advocate for the Global Schools Program – an SDSN-youth initiative where he advocated for the inclusion of SDGs into the school curriculum in his community, an ambassador for the World Literacy Foundation promoting access to quality education, a TeachSDGs ambassador among others. Under the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI), he is constantly engaged in climate action.
Furthermore, he served on the team coordinating the organization of the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY16) bringing young climate activists from across the globe to Glasgow engaging in capacity building and policy making ahead of COP26, thus fostering meaningful youth engagement. Ahead of the G7 summit, in his role as an ambassador, he gathered inputs from youths through consultations under the themes of health, climate, and environment ensuring youth voices were heard during the G7 summit. Mashkur has received numerous awards and is an African changemakers fellow.
