We are thrilled to announce that AFS volunteer and Youth Assembly Ambassador Dana Al Anzy has joined the UN Department of Global Communication’s (DGC) Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee as a member representing AFS.

THE PRESTIGIOUS PLATFORM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO ADVOCATE AND ENGAGE ON GLOBAL ISSUES

Established in 2009, the Civil Society Youth Representatives Steering Committee serves as an advocacy platform to bring together young people from civil society organizations formally associated with the DGC and focused on issues on the agenda of the United Nations. The platform provides an opportunity for young people to advocate and engage on global issues on the UN agenda.

Being selected as a Youth Representative is a significant recognition of an individual’s expertise, leadership, and commitment to global issues, as well as an opportunity to network and collaborate with other youth leaders and organizations.

DANA HAS AN IMPRESSIVE TRACK RECORD IN YOUTH ADVOCACY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Dana is a dedicated AFS volunteer and has an impressive track record in youth advocacy and sustainable development. She specializes in multisectoral strategic partnerships and has worked with various UN agencies and foundations on projects related to education, refugee empowerment, and youth advocacy.

She has also been an active member of the Youth Assembly since 2018, serving as the Qatar Youth Ambassador and facilitating the nomination and training of over 60 Qatari Youth Assembly Delegates to date. She also serves on the Youth Advisory Committee for the Youth Assembly, helping us create a successful event in 2023.

Her experience will undoubtedly make a valuable contribution to the Steering Committee as they advise the Department of Global Communication on youth engagement for outreach and advocacy on global issues on the UN agenda.

We are excited to see Dana’s impact on this advocacy platform.
