Mashkur Isa is a doctor with a passion for global health, climate change, and youth leadership. As an Erasmus Mundus scholar from Nigeria who recently graduated from the University of Sheffield and the Jagiellonian University, he joins the fight for health equity using the knowledge and experience gained.
He serves as a Youth Ambassador for the European Cancer Leagues (ECL) where he advocates for cancer prevention in line with the European Code Against Cancer. Mashkur is an avid volunteer and has served as a Global Schools Advocate for the Global Schools Program – an SDSN-youth initiative where he advocated for inclusion of SDGs into school curriculums in his community, an ambassador for the World Literacy Foundation promoting access to quality education, a TeachSDGs ambassador among others. Under the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI) and YOUNGO, he is constantly engaged in climate action. Furthermore, he served on the team coordinating the organization of the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY16 & COY17) bringing young climate activists from across the globe to engage in capacity-building and policy-making ahead of the annual Conference of Parties (COP), thus fostering meaningful youth engagement. He has also been actively involved in humanitarian efforts helping Ukrainian refugees who have fled the war.
Mashkur is a returning Youth Assembly ambassador who advocates for youth engagement and empowerment to achieve the SDGs. He has organized and moderated several conferences, received numerous awards, and is a Rotaractor, Climate Reality Leader, as well as an African Changemakers fellow.
