HERE IS HOW A DAY IN THE INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS ACADEMY AT THE YOUTH ASSEMBLY LOOKS LIKE

Start your day with breakfast at the Marriott Hotel, setting the stage for an enriching journey ahead. Engage in a seminar on global issues with industry experts followed by a Model Diplomacy Simulation (curated from the Council on Foreign Relations) where you get to debate a global topic as a member state of the UN Security Council. This interactive day of learning with peers is just the start of your international affairs journey.

On Day 2, depart on a bus bound for the United Nations, where you’ll embark on a guided tour, traversing the hallowed halls where statesmen and diplomats typically convene. Keep an eye out – you might even catch a glimpse of them in action!

Next, engage in a briefing at a diplomatic mission or international organization, immersing yourself in insightful discussions with their esteemed staff and gaining firsthand knowledge of their operations. Lunch will be provided, offering a welcome respite amidst the day’s activities.

In the afternoon, you will participate in a Permanent Mission to the UN Visit, where you’ll gain firsthand insights into the vital work undertaken in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), alongside dedicated diplomats from the Mission. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to ask questions and network with diplomats and fellow delegates.

Transfer back to the hotel, reflecting on the day’s illuminating experiences and contemplating the profound impact you’re poised to make in the realm of international affairs.
