Dr. Joann Halpern is the Director of the Hasso Plattner Institute, New York, an adjunct professor of international education at New York University, and a design thinking coach. In addition to running design thinking and “Designing Your Life” workshops around the globe, she is currently writing a book about global careers. Prior to joining HPI, Joann was the founding director of the German Center for Research and Innovation, which was created as a cornerstone of the German government’s initiative to internationalize science and research. Dr. Halpern received her B.A. from Dartmouth College, her M.A. from Harvard University, and her Ph.D. from NYU.
