Lamar Shambley (he/him) is a high school Spanish teacher and the Founder and Executive Director of Teens of Color Abroad (TOCA), a Brooklyn-based nonprofit organization that provides high school students of color with global language learning opportunities. Since 2018, TOCA has sponsored new U.S. passports for more than 20 high school students, served over 1,000 students across the U.S., and awarded nearly $200,000 in scholarships. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Modern Languages and Literature from the College of William & Mary and his Master’s of Arts in Teaching from the Relay Graduate School of Education.
