The Educators Workshop will engage the international cohort of teachers in truly interactive experiences to not only consider how students’ backgrounds and cultures play a role in their outlooks and approaches to creating solutions to the SDGs but also to help prepare them for their future interactions with individuals who approach the world differently than they do.
The educators in this experience can anticipate learning about the PISA 2018 Global Competence assessment and its implications for teaching and learning in any content area and grade level. From there, educators will assume the role of their students throughout the workshop so they can participate in a variety of activities first-hand. Educators will be provided with all of the resources to replicate these activities in their classrooms with little or no preparation so they can prompt vibrant discussion among their students on topics ranging from cultural identity, communication styles, curbing judgement of others and so much more. Educators should expect to network throughout the day, as they will engage with different groups to meet people from around the world and expand their network.
The group will utilize various apps and technologies to help them connect their classes with one another after departing the Youth Assembly so the intercultural learning and creative problem solving can continue well beyond the time spent at the workshop. Anticipate high levels of engagement, plenty of laughter, and a lot of learning throughout the day!
