Melody is a true Global Citizen, having been raised in 6 countries on 5 continents. Her contact with a myriad of communities (many of them marginalized) started her interest in development work and humanitarian issues. Her efforts have included orphanage work and outreaches in slum areas aimed at promoting education and access to opportunity.
Her most recent project (in the planning phase) was set to target learning loss among children in impoverished areas in a major African city. Although slowed down by the pandemic, she has also been more exposed to the complexity of solving global issues, which are lessons that will change the way we think about human rights and justice. She is especially interested in the African continent, and pushes for a new generation of young Africans that propel the continent to the next level. She is also interested in the wellbeing of the global community and strives to bring the idea of a better world to fruition. Melody is an avid storyteller (especially writing!) and considers it one of her most important forms of advocacy, especially when raising awareness of humanitarian issues that may otherwise be difficult to translate across cultural contexts.
